A new year brings
many changes for Johnny Red. A new artist, a new Commissar, a
new aircraft, the first multi-part 'epic', colour pages and the
chance of a new start. John Cooper takes over as series artist
for November 1942. Johnny's approaching birthday is making him
homesick. The arrival of Major Rastivitch soon pushes these
thoughts to one side. Rastovitch knows all about Johnny's past,
and has a dossier that could put the Englishman in front of a
firing squad. Instead, Rastovitch offers Johnny a small chance,
blackmailing him into flying a stripped down and heavily
armoured Mitchell B-25 Bomber back to England with a top secret
cargo, Comrade Alexei Tokayev. If Johnny accepts the mission,
the dossier will be destroyed, but what chance do Johnny and his
co-pilots, Yakob and Vorishkin, have of completing their mission
alive?
