Interviews
I've tried to gain interview material with all the creators of Johnny Red, but unfortunately this hasn't been possible. Tom Tully has apparently disappeared without trace since departing as landlord of the pub where I used to live. I had several years to interview him whilst he ran the Farrier's Arms in Pewsey, but I was to busy drinking his beer at the time. Tom moved further west, where he took on another pub, but after the death of his wife, has all but disappeared. John Cooper has been having e-mail and web site problems, so I'm going to have to give him another punt at some later stage. Mark Jarvis found an interview from a few years back which I've added in the meantime. I found an interview with Carlos Pino conducted in Spanish, and I'm working on a translation, but need a bit of help, so that one is in progress for later addition. Joe Colquhoun conducted very few interviews before his death, but Jim Croasdale found one for me, that Neil Emery has most of on his Charley's War site. Mark Jarvis interviewed David Hunt about the history of Battle, and his words are reproduced here with kind permission. I've also borrowed excerpts from Neil Emery's interview with Pat Mills, again through Mark's site and with Neil's kind permission. Much thanks to Mark, Neil and Jim for there help in getting these pages together. Thanks also to Terry Hooper for interviewing John Cooper. If I can get Tom Tully to speak to me, you'll see it here.
